Danika Simon
The Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon April Students of the Month are Bryan Velazquez-Olivera and Danika Simon. Bryan Velazquez-Olivera is the son of Hilda Olivera and they live in Newport. Bryan moved to Newport last year and has a 4.0 GPA. Bryan's passion is soccer. He plans to attend Southwestern Community College to further his education and also play soccer. Danika Simon is the daughter of Tony & Mindy Simon of Waldport. Danika has a 4.0 GPA and is a Valedictorian for the Class of 2021. Danika is passionate about theater, music and dance and plans to attend a four year university and obtain a degree in theater or a physics/math related field. Good luck to these excellent students.

Kylie Carver
The Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon March Students of the Month are Hannah Driebergen and Kylie Carver. Hannah is the daughter of Elizabeth and Jeremy Driebergen of Newport. She has earned a 3.91 GPA and has participated in volleyball, basketball and track. Hannah plans to attend Boise State University to become a physician's assistant. Kylie is the daughter of Paul and Jessica Carver of Depoe Bay. She has earned a 3.79 GPA and has participated in volleyball, golf and cross country. Kylie plans to attend Eastern Washington University and study dental hygiene.

Morgan Hanna
The Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon February Students of the Month are Katie Hartsell and Morgan Hanna. Katie is the daughter of William and Teresa Hartsell of Newport. She has earned a 4.0 GPA, an IB Diploma Candidate, member of Honor Society and a Music in May Participant. Katie plans to attend Brigham Young University. Morgan is the daughter of Brian and Jody Hanna of Newport. She has earned a 4.0 GPA and is a IB Diploma Candidate. She is an Honor Society member, Thespian Society and is involved in dance and track. Morgan plans to attend Brigham Young University.

Melanie Hanna
The Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon January Students of the Month are Marcus Lehrer and Melanie Hanna. Marcus is the son of John and Jane Lehrer. He has a 3.62 GPA and has participated in cross country and track. Marcus has volunteered as an Outdoor School leader for two years and has been an instructor for Peace Village for four years. Marcus plans to go to a four-year college and study medicine. Melanie's parents are Brian and Jody Hanna. She has earned a 4.0 GPA and is an International Baccalaureate candidate student. Melanie belongs to the Newport School of Artistic Movement and has been inducted into the International Thespian Society. She has had many principal theatrical roles in her young career. Melanie plans to attend Brigham Young University to become a speech pathologist. Congratulations to these fine students!!

Jori Gonzales
The Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon December Students of the Month are Lexi Geampa and Jori Gonzales. Lexi has earned a perfect 4.0 GPA, has volunteered for various community service projects and has won the President's Award for Educational Excellence and the Beat the Odds Scholarship. Lexi plans to attend a four year university and study criminal justice or business management. Jiro Gonzales has earned a 3.89 GPA, has participated in track & field and has volunteered for numerous projects through Leadership and National Honor Society. Jiro plans to attend Oregon State University and study physical therapy. Congratulations to these fine students!!

The Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon November Students of the Month are Daisy O'Hearn and Payton Cunningham. Daisy is the daughter of Traci and Richard O'Hearn. She has earned a 3.97 GPA, is involved with 4-H, co-captain of golf team, multiple volunteering activities and winner of last year's Rotary 4-Way Test speech contest. Daisy plans to attend the University of Washington and study law. Payton is the son of Shannon Thurber and Blain Cunningham. He has earned a 4.0 GPA. Payton is a three-sport athlete competing in soccer, basketball and track. He was named USA Track & Field All-American Decathlete. He loves the outdoors and plans to attend a school outside of Oregon, compete in track and study mechanical engineering. Congratulations to these outstanding students!!

M'Kenzie Kirchner
Cole Wiles
The Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon October Students of the Month are M'Kenzie Kirchner and Cole Wiles. M'Kenzie is the daughter of Jason and Gway Kirchner. She has earned a 4.0 GPA, is the Class 2021 Vice President, participates in volleyball and the NHS equestrian team and was the Lincoln County Livestock Evacuation Coordinator during the Echo Mountain fires. M'Kenzie plans to pursue a pre-veterinary or biology degree. Cole is the son of Ryan and Kendra Wiles. He has earned a 3.94 GPA, National Honor Society member, and has participated in football, wrestling and baseball. His plans are to attend Colorado School of the Mines and pursue a degree in Geotechnical Engineering. Congratulations to these excellent students!!

Jillian has earned a 3.74 GPA, is the Student Body President, participates in soccer and track and will attend Oregon State University and study medicine. Jillian's parents are Rob and Aimee Thompson. Ben has earned a 4.0 GPA, member of Honor Society, participates in cross country and track and plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
