June 5, 2020- Newport Rotary Welcomes Two New Members
Rotary of Newport would like to welcome two new members to our club, Nathan and Corrin Perry. Lieutenants Nathan and Corrin Perry are the Corps Officers of the Salvation Army Newport Corps, which serves all of Lincoln County. They are both pastors and Social Services administrators and love serving their community in many different ways, which include leading worship services, spiritual and emotional care, youth music instruction, and outreach to those in need through social services. They have lived in Newport for 4 years and have a son, named Ezra, who is 14 months old. Newport has felt like home, as Nathan and Corrin both grew up in smaller tourist communities in the Midwest, Nathan from Michigan, and Corrin from Iowa. They are excited to join the Rotary Club of Newport and look forward to getting to know other Rotarians.

June 2, 2020- Board Meeting Via Zoom
Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon Board Meeting- June 2, 2020.
On June 2nd, the Rotary Club of Newport Board of Directors met via Zoom. Many topics were discussed including how to continue supporting people in need during the pandemic and the finishing up the details on the June 25th Rotary banquet. Thanks to everyone who took part in Tuesday's meeting!!
May 11, 2020- Rotary Club of Newport Donates $1000 to The Salvation Army of Lincoln County
Newport Rotary President Julie Hanrahan presents a check for $1,000 to Lieutenant Nathan Perry of the Salvation Army of Lincoln County.
This week, the Rotary Club of Newport donated $1,000 to the Salvation Army Newport Corps. Below is Rotary President Julie Hanrahan handing the check to Lieutenant Nathan Perry. The entire amount of the donation will be used to provide utility assistance to those who are currently displaced due to the COVID-19 outbreak in our community. A big thanks to all the people that are making a difference in our world!!

The Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Newport, Oregon met on May 5th, 2020 via Zoom. The main topic was how the club would continue to support our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
April 21, 2020- Newport Rotarian Lola Jones Gives Birth to Baby Boy!!

Congratulations to Newport Rotarian and Executive Director of The Samaritan House, Lola Jones. She gave birth to Forrest Lewis Jones on April 21st, 2020 at 9 lbs 1 oz and 20 inches long. Lola, Forrest and dad are home and doing well.
April 20, 2020- Rotary of Newport Provides Meals for Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital Employees
On Monday, April 20th the Rotary Club of Newport provided free meals to all Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital employees for their extraordinary efforts during the coronavirus crisis. We want to thank you for rising to the occasion and caring for the most vulnerable in our community. You have our most deepest admiration.
April 15, 2020- Rotary Club of Newport Dedicates Funds to Help Those in Need During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Rotary Club of Newport announced on Wednesday ways the club will support the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Rotary Club of Newport is dedicated in giving assistance to people in need as we go through these tough times together. The Rotary motto of "Service above Self" has never been more important!!
April 7, 2020- Board Meeting (Via Zoom)
Today, the Rotary Of Newport Board of Directors met and had a very productive meeting via Zoom. Many things were discussed but the main topic was how the club can help our community through the pandemic. As details are currently being worked out, the Board will announce soon the projects to support people in need during this crisis. Another example of "Service above Self".
April 2, 2020- "Seas the Day" Committee Votes to Postpone Event
The Rotary of Newport "Seas the Day" Committee decided to postpone the July 5th event due to concern of the coronavirus. The committee is looking for a potential fall date to reschedule. Thanks to all who have worked on and donated to this event.

January 17, 2020- Oregon Governor Kate Brown Appoints Marcia Buckley to the Lincoln County Circuit Court
Today, Oregon Governor Kate Brown appointed Rotary Club of Newport member Marcia Buckley to the Lincoln County Circuit Court. Marcia Buckley has been a member of Newport Rotary since 2002 and was president of the club 2018-2019. Congratulations Marcia!!

At today's meeting, club member Aimee Thompson introduced the three short-term exchange students that will be visiting a foreign country next summer. They are Echo Stewart, Harper Thomson and Braylon Belloni. Aimee also introduced the 2020-21 NHS outbound exchange student Sophie Whitacre. She will be traveling to the Czech Republic in August. Congratulations to all students!!

Foreign exchange student Noémie Hermant switched to her new host family today, the Klem-Russell home. A big thanks to the Tucker family for providing a wonderful home and special experiences for Noémie.

With the 2020 Newport Seafood & Wine Festival right around the corner, the Rotary Club of Newport held a wine tasting to check out the wine to be sold. Chronic Sales will be on the menu this year. Thanks Megan Schain for hosting and making this happen!!

Tonight at Columbia Bank, the club presented the ABC's of Rotary to new members to learn everything about the Rotary Club of Newport. Eleven speakers described the workings of the club and how new members can become involved. Also, Bob Wienert recognized MaryKay Dahlgreen for earning her "Blue Badge". Thanks to Diane Nelson for organizing the event and Bo Smith for emceeing.
